STRIIIIKE three! YOU’RE OUT!

In my opinion, you can fool all the people some of the time, and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool ALL of the people ALL of the time.

The American Diabetes Association has done it again. About a year ago, they were sued under the Federal Racketeering ACT (in one of my earlier newsletters) in Sacramento, CA, for promoting brands that had artificial sweeteners in them, in collusion with several top manufacturers of sodas, etc.

Well, they did it again. This time, they have entered into an agreement with Cadbury-Schwepps Americas Beverages (CSAB) to help combat obesity and "educate" the public into making "smart" nutritional choices.

This is like the fox guarding the henhouse.

CSAB is supporting the "Walk for Diabetes" and the Weight Loss Matters.

The ADA is saying that they need this support to promote their message for good health and to combat diabetes.

This whole thing is reprehensible. In return for financial "help", the ADA logo will be put on diet foods manufactured by the CSAB company. The news releases which the company has do not state this alliance between the ADA and them.

In other words, the ADA has been bought, lock, stock, and barrel, by the advertising which this huge food company will do by promoting the ADA logo on their goods.

In my opinion, in essence, the ADA now cannot promote true good healthy practices based on accurate body biochemistry for diabetics. There is too much at stake for them. If they actually transmit the truth to diabetics on what they really should eat to control their diabetes, then they will lose all that "support" which they claim they need.

With the recent food pyramid changes, and the food industry’s input into these changes, we must remember who controls the information also controls the individual.

If the individual is therefore controlled, then he or she cannot make healthy food choices because of the incredible confusion which ensues. And so, their diabetes is not controlled.

Interesting, because diabetes is a lifestyle "disease" and can be easily controlled by those who want to do so.

However, these who do want control over their "disease" must search not for supplements or pills to take, but must begin to make lifestyle changes in earnest.

The incredible spin on information which is now going to be given to diabetics is in actuality based upon corporate greed, not for concern for the diabetic’s health.

There should be no excuses for this incredible alliance between food industry and a diabetic association which has earned the trust of diabetic Americans worldwide. The ADA should have attempted to raise funds differently.

Knowing that many artificial sweeteners, one in particular, is a potent neuro-toxin, which can raise blood pressure, and increase the craving for carbohydrates, in my opinion this "alliance" is really a sell-out in order to mask truth for diabetics and indeed, promote food choices in the direction of the food manufacturer.

And another thing:

White flour contains diabetes-causing contaminant alloxan.

As if what I and many others have been saying about avoiding anything "white" isn’t enough, this latest bit of information is revealing that the chemical that makes white flour look white actually destroys the beta (insulin - producing ) cells of the pancreas. The chemical is used in lab animals (rats, guinea pigs) to actually induce diabetes.

There is a Textbook of Natural Medicine which calls alloxan a "potent beta cell toxin."

While there must be a genetic susceptibility (the new buzz-word) to alloxan, nevertheless, there is a clear and ever-present danger between alloxan and diabetes.

Major industries have a financial bottom line at stake if they tell the consumer that something is not right with their product. We are finding this out more and more as the recalls of VIOXX, Bextra, Able labs (the entire manufacturer) are hitting the newsstands. The FDA, which is supposed to be the guardian, or watchdog for our consumption of foods, and drugs has been missing a few cogs lately. Whistle blowers are cropping up everywhere at the FDA. Those who try to discredit them end up being put on the hot seat themselves.

As always, Eat Well and Prosper.
