The Diabetes Epidemic
by Dr. Jim Carey,
PhD
For all the government hype about a potential Bird Flu epidemic, it's amazing they're not addressing the
Diabetes Epidemic in America. Here in Georgia nearly 8 percent of adults have type-2 diabetes, and diabetes costs Georgians
$4 Billion in medical costs and lost productivity every year. Nationally, diabetes accounts for 11% of all health care spending.
Diabetes is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, and it is estimated that for every person
that dies from diabetes, the disease contributes to the death of two more.
Many others live with the devastating consequences of the disease, which includes kidney failure, blindness,
leg amputation, heart attack and stroke.
Also alarming is that cases are up 133% over the last eight years.
Type-1 diabetes, also called juvenile or insulin-dependent diabetes, begins almost exclusively in children
and usually lasts a lifetime. Type-2 diabetes, the most common form, is the form that's exploding across America. While there
is probably a genetic component to the disease, it's main component is "environmental," that is, excess body fat, which makes
the body "resistant" to insulin.
Type-2 diabetes used to be a rarity in children; now children with type-2 diabetes account for as much
as two-thirds of new cases.
Risk Factors for Diabetes
Obesity: A body mass index (BMI) greater than 27 increases the risk of diabetes. To calculate you BMI,
go here: http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/.
Apple Shape: There is an increased risk of diabetes in African American, White and Latino women with a
waist measurement over 35 inches and men with a waist measurement over 40 inches. The limits are lower for people of Asian
background.
Ethnic Origin: There is a higher risk for African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Childbirth: Having had a baby weighing more than 9 lbs. at birth increases risk.
Age: Risks increase after age 45.
Family History of Diabetes.
Sedentary Lifestyle.
Early Symptoms of Diabetes
You may be at risk if you experience any of the following:
Excessive Thirst
Extreme Hunger
Frequent Urination
Increased Fatigue
Unusual Weight Loss
Irritability
Blurry
Vision

Prevention and Treatment
One of the things that amazed me when I was Director of Creative Health Institute was how well, and quickly,
diabetes responded to a living foods lifestyle. I saw people stabilize their blood sugar at normal levels often within days
of arriving at the Center, and have heard testimonies from people who have been off of insulin, or any other diabetes drugs,
for over 20 years.
This includes both type-1 and type-2 diabetes. Type-1 takes longer to treat, and some type-1 diabetics
never do overcome their dependence on insulin. But type-2 diabetes usually responds in a matter of days as people adopt raw
living foods and regular exercise as a lifestyle.
Like any disease, the best treatment is prevention. That's why, at 51 years old, I adopted the living
foods lifestyle. To see my before and after photos, visit http://chidiet.com/news/LivingFoodsNews20060429.htm#whatraw.
Sergei Boutenko overcame his diabetes with the living foods lifestyle 12 years ago. Victoria Boutenko
tells the story in her book, Green for Life (http://chidiet.com/books.htm#Green), and her video, Greens Can Save Your Life (http://chidiet.com/tapes.htm#v64).
Victoria Boutenko wrote a good article about the living foods lifestyle and diabetes in her April newsletter:
http://chidiet.com/news/RawFamilyNewsletterApril2006.htm.
Do your kids refuse to eat anything that hasn't danced on TV? Children learn by watching their parents,
so setting a good example of healthy eating is important, the Nemours Foundation says. Children who participate in family
meals are more likely to eat more fruits and vegetables, and less likely to snack on unhealthy foods. They are also less likely
to indulge in smoking, drug and alcohol abuse: http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20060418/hl_hsn/healthtipgetyourkidstoeathealthy.

Living Lightly Upon the Earth
by Jim Carey
Vegans, especially Raw Living Food Vegans, ask less of the earth than meat eaters. That's a good thing,
since there are only 4.5 "biologically productive" acres of land per person in the world.
Unfortunately, if everyone lived like me, we'd need 3.3 planets to support everyone. According to the
Earth Day website, that's how big my "ecological footprint" is.
Find out what your ecological footprint is at http://www.earthday.net/Footprint/index.asp.

Springtime Wellness Message
- by Donald O. Haughey, founder,
Creative Health Institute
When you are ready you can come to Creative Health Institute for a two-week Health restoration experience
that works.
You say, “How does it work?” It's the simplest thing in the world - by reversing the causes
of degenerative health conditions caused by lifestyle and habits.
The program was created by Dr. Ann Wigmore out of her life experiences and studies. There can be no doubt
that she and others have been directed by Divine positive forces standing in the reality that when the world is ready to correct
the errors of our ways that the Divine forces work to bring Wisdom and guidance to accomplish the truth that “Goodness
consists in the accomplishment of things to their appropriate end.”
The writer of this and the one who established Creative Health Institute learned the ways of wellness
after being told, at 34 years of age, to prepare for life's end within a year because of medically untreatable disease.
The simple and straightforward truth in Dr. Ann Wigmore's book “Why Suffer” gave me a new hope and inspired me to reverse my life pattern to a Raw Food vegetarian way of life, and in three years
my seven diagnosed diseases just went away.
Our body was created to be well and to self-heal all out-of-balance conditions.
At Creative Health Institute in just two weeks you can get the result of the Living Foods Lifestyle we
have been teaching for 28 years. Try it!

McDonald's to close 25 branches in the UK
|
There is a scene in Super Size Me, the documentary about McDonald's, in which its maker, Morgan Spurlock,
inflicts what looks like a killer blow to the brand's image. Spurlock had nothing but McDonald's food and drink for nearly
a month and his medical tests were alarming his doctor. "Your liver has turned to pate," he warned, urging Spurlock to stop
eating McDonald's at once or risk death.
Confirmation that such bad publicity has wounded the world's largest fast food chain appeared to come
this week with the company's admission that it is to close 25 UK branches. Denis Hennequin, president of McDonald's Europe,
has admitted that the company has been struggling in the UK in the face of a consumer backlash.
McDonald's posted figures in the US that showed that its profit margins at the stores it operates itself
in Europe had dipped from 15.6% to 14.9% in 2005. |

Chipping Away in America
|
Chips are routinely implanted in animals for various purposes. RFID (radio frequency identification) tags
are placed in the ears of livestock so farmers can know which cattle are theirs, replacing traditional methods of branding.
Veterinarians offer products such as HomeAgain and 24PetWatch, chips that can be implanted in pets to store owner identification,
medical information, etc.: http://www.americanhumane.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pa_shelter_services_resources_microchip.
In 2004 a number of government officials in Mexico, including the Attorney General, were implanted with
microchips that function much like electronic keycards to allow access to secure areas. The difference is that you can't forget
or misplace this key, and it would be difficult (although not impossible) for someone to steal it: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5439055. |
 |
Also in 2004 the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of RFID chips by hospitals to identify
patients: http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/Science-Fiction-News.asp?NewsNum=199.
In 2005 Tommy Thompson, the governor of Wisconsin and former U.S. Security of Health and Human Services,
announced that he was having an RFID chip injected into his arm to provide quick access to his medical history and records.
Although this announcement made big news, we've not been able to find verification that he ever went through with the procedure:
http://wistechnology.com/article.php?id=2044.
"Chipping" made the news again when a company in Ohio used RFID chips implanted in workers to control
access to certain rooms. The company's CEO said the chips are no different from ID cards: http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/Science-Fiction-News.asp?NewsNum=552.
Here are some of the uses that were proposed by Digital Angel, a company that makes RFID and GPS implants
for pets, fish and livestock: http://web.archive.org/web/20000815061023/www.digitalangel.net/uses.htm.
Where does it stop? How much of a step is it from allowing parents and pet owners to keep tabs on their
charges, to allowing employers to keep track of their workers, and then to allowing governments to keep track of all of us,
all the time? Of course it will happen in increments. Who's going to argue with implanting a tracking chip in a sex offender
who's been released from prison? Or implanting chips in soldiers going to war, so they can be more easily located if they're
wounded? Or in children, for their own safety? And so forth.
The idea of such technology in the hands of government makes many privacy advocates very nervous - especially
in conjunction with other political and social trends. In response to all this, some lawmakers are trying to ameliorate the
possible damage. A state representative in Wisconsin has introduced a bill that would prohibit requiring anyone to have a
chip implanted or doing it without their knowledge: http://www.livescience.com/technology/060425_implant_law.html.

If you'd like to speak out against this bill, send this message to your U.S. Senators.
Please forward
this alert to interested family and friends.
-------------------------------------
Dear Senator,
As a health-conscious consumer, and as one of your constituents, I urge you to vote "No" on the "National
Uniformity for Food Act."
Despite industry claims, this is a profoundly undemocratic and anti-consumer bill that will take away
the right of local governments and states to require food safety labels on food and grocery items.
The National Uniformity For Food Act will eliminate current food safety food labels such as those required
in California and other states on foods or beverages that are likely to cause cancer, birth defects, allergic reactions, or
mercury poisoning. This bill would also prevent citizens in local municipalities and states from passing laws requiring that
genetically engineered foods and ingredients be labeled.
As a consumer I strongly resent this denial of my basic right to know what's in my food, and this denial
of my local and state government's power to protect the health of myself and my family.
Please vote "No," on the National Uniformity for Food Act.
Sincerely,

From the Mailbox
Here in San Antonio it's already very hot; we use plain watermelon (a daily staple in keeping cool); put
half of it in Vitamix and drink all day. Small seed pieces are on the bottom, actually floating all through, but they are
ground up so small they feel in the teeth and on the tongue like sesame seeds, etc. They are completely swallowable, and I
feel to be getting their inherent value and oils (seeds are good, generally...). You don't have to strain this juice - if
you do, you lose the foam...
Grapes and seeds and an ice cube (filtered water, of course) would blend up fabulously in a Vitamix.
Very best,

Andressohn Family Update
Dear Jim,
I spent the past 2 days with Lamoy and about 50% was helping her fix food for her gourmet raw food catering
service. I didn't realize how much I had missed doing that. When I was at Murrieta Hot Springs in the '80s I fixed the salad
bar for the children and then for the adults and had a ball. I think the greatest thing a woman can do is prepare some conscious
food for her loved ones. Little Joy will be 1 year old on the 4th of May. She walks like a sailor, up and down steps now,
and has her teeth biting and nibbling on lots of stuff, especially Championed mulberries! What a blessing it is to be around
that family.
All that is keeping them from having their whole family together now is having a home, a dependable car.
Someone has said a truck is available but it would take $800 to get it fixed and driveable. The house they have found is $1100/month.
Is there anyone out there who has a smaller home on their property that they would rent them for a decent wage for a laborer
who cleans/fixes up yards, perhaps $600 or 700? They pay child support now of $700 plus $400 for renting one bedroom in a
home, and that home is being sold. I know that if we all get together and pray and tell people, something will come up.
Joe is working 7 days a week. He gave me $50 on the credit card payment for the bail money, and $10 to
send to Mr. Huggins to retire the other half that I committed to, so at least half is paid now. He worked 12 hours Saturday.
Peace and Love,
